Runyenjes MP Cecily Mbarire has accused Opposition leader Raila Odinga of treating unfairly women seeking elective seats under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party.
Speaking on Sunday, Mbarire, who also sits as the Kenya Women Parliamentarians Association (KEWOPA) Chair further urged women to shun the ODM Party leader during the forthcoming general elections for allegedly blocking Nominated Senator Elizabeth Ongoro from contesting the Ruaraka parliamentary seat under the ODM ticket.
“I want to tell Raila that the women of Kenya have realised that you are the worst supporter of women. I want to ask all women to deny him votes because he does not believe in women leadership,” she said.
She drummed up support for President Uhuru Kenyatta, who she said has given women a good platform to explore their leadership potential in the political arena.Last week Thursday, the Orange Party fined Senator Ongoro Sh1 million and barred her from contesting the Ruaraka parliamentary seat on the party's ticket for allegedly causing chaos at Orange House alongside her supporters.
She has since defected to the Amani National Congress Party.
