Deputy President William Ruto has taken a swipe on politicians opposed to the establishment of the Itare Dam in Nakuru County.
Speaking earlier in the week, Ruto hit out at NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga for vehemently opposing the multi-million project, arguing that the former Prime Minister has no expertise in the expertise.
"We are using Sh32 billion to construct a dam that will end water shortage in various parts of Nakuru and Kericho counties," he said.
"...But this illiterate man is lying to you that it is hazardous to the environment yet he knows nothing," he added.
However, those opposed to the dam including Raila and a section of Kipsigis elders largely drawn from Kericho County, the project could lead to the drying up of major water catchment areas.
