Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has said Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) leader Raila Odinga is the best candidate to battle it out with President Uhuru Kenyatta in next year's general election.
Joho said Raila enjoys massive support from different parts of the country, thus is capable of beating Uhuru in the polls.
Speaking during the commemoration of the late Senator Otieno Kajwang, Joho said Raila stands a better chance of winning the presidency in the upcoming general election compared to Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
"Who among the Cord principals has the most supporters if not Raila Odinga?" he asked, as quoted by the Nation.
JJoho hailed the late Kajwang, terming him as a bold politician who defended Raila by all means.
He said if he were alive, Kajwang could not have sat back and watched as other leaders including Deputy President William Ruto and National Assembly Leader Aden Duale malign Raila's name in their speeches during political rallies.
"Had Otieno Kajwang been alive today, he would not have given room to the likes of Ruto and Duale to play around with our party leader Raila Odinga," he said.
Joho has been rallying the electorate to vote for Raila in a bid to unseat UhuRuto in the 2017 elections.
