The MP alleges that Raila wants to frustrate the Jubilee government development progress.

Speaking to journalists during the site visit of the controversial Sh6.8 Billion Northern Collector Tunnel in Murang’a County on Tuesday, Kuria said that Raila’s agenda is to politicise development projects being initiated by the government.

“Raila wants the Jubilee government to fail so that he can take advantage to gain popularity among Kenyans,” he claimed.

Kuria said that the claims raised by Raila over the Sh6.8 Billion water project in Murang’a are not valid.

“Raila and his group should give us a break they cannot politicise every development project the government is initiating,” he added.

The Jubilee government led by Water Cabinet Secretary (CS) Eugene Wamalwa has defended the water project saying that concerns raised by Raila do not add up and that Raila supported the project when he was serving as Prime Minister in the Coalition government back in 2012.

On Monday, Raila accused the Jubilee government of secretively funding the project.

Raila claimed that the project that is ongoing has long-term environmental effects.

The Cord leader claimed that due environment analysis was not done in regards to the project.

Raila claimed that the project will turn Murang’a, Garissa, Ukambani and Tana Delta regions into deserts after five years of its completion.

The former Prime Minister now wants the project halted.
