Mr Abuya Abuya, a political prisoner at some time in the 1980s alongside Mr Odinga believes that the latter ‘suffered’ enough for fighting social and political injustices and deserves a chance to be president.

Speaking on Monday during an exclusive interview ahead of Saba Saba day, Mr Abuya threw another scathing attack on the Jubilee government terming it a regime of ‘bandits’ and challenged Kenyans to vote it out in the 2017 elections.

“I have been in politics for a while and I think this man Raila is a Nelson Mandela. He has a great humility and character just like Mr Mandela. We fought for multiparty democracy together for a long time and he has remained evergreen just like Mandela despite the unlawful detentions,” he said.

“Such a person should be rewarded with the presidency. The current regime is a replica of what Raila fought against in 1980s and 1990s and I am not shocked to see him wage a relentless fight. The Jubilee government is just but a composition of economic bandits,” he said in an emotional interview.

Asked whether Raila marched any Kenyan politicians since independence, Abuya laughed off the question terming Raila ‘incomparable’ to any Kenyan politician.

“It’s like comparing Mandela with a bunch of African Presidents. It can’t happen and not even his father Jaramogi Oginga can match him. Raila is incomparable and his presence in Kenyan politics makes things run in a smooth way. We can only pay him by voting him as president just like South Africans did for Mandela,” he said.
