Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria has hit out at the opposition accusing it of being hypocritical and refusing to follow the law concerning the removal of the IEBC commissioners.
Speaking in his constituency over the weekend, Gikaria accused the Cord leader Raila Odinga of having a hidden agenda disguised in his push to have the commission disbanded.
The legislator said IEBC commissioners will only be removed as outlined in the supreme law of the country.
“The law is very clear and there are four ways to remove the commissioners. They can only be removed through the national attrition, if their term expires, petition and resignation,”he said.
He said it was wrong for the opposition to demand negotiations outside Parliament and the legal framework.
“We know they are after Nusu Mkate kind of arrangement .They still have the Nusu mkate hangovers ,”said Gikaria.
Gikaria reiterated that it was wrong for the opposition to force dialogue with individuals yet there were better institutions in place to resolve the stalemate .
“The other day ,Raila met the President for only ten minutes and came out to mislead the public that they discussed issues concerning IEBC.The owner of the house who is the president is the one who could have come out to speak,”he said.
He said that nothing between the two was discussed to nominate members of the negotiation team from Cord and Jubilee to dialogue about IEBC.
“IEBC has now become a song and Kenyans increasing want to know who is saying the truth,”he said.
