Cord principal Raila Odinga has accused the Jubilee government of failing the youth in terms of creating job opportunities for them.
Speaking in Mombasa on Wednesday during the launch of a road, in memory of his late son Fidel Odinga, Raila asked youth not to give up and instead encouraged them to aim for success, despite the limited opportunities provided to them by the current government.
Raila also criticised the street lighting project that was recently launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta dubbed 'Stima Mtaani', saying the project will not be of much effect in raising the country's economy, if the fight against corruption in Kenya is not intensified.
"I urge all the young people not to get discouraged and not to engage in drug abuse and other illegal activities that could ruin their lives. Youth should instead use every little opportunity they get to improve their life. Youth should utilise the Uwezo Fund by starting projects and business ventures that will enable them build a better future," said Raila.
Raila also mentioned that the 'Stima Mtaani' project was Cord's idea suggested to the World Bank, and later implemented by the Jubilee government, since they are the acting government in Kenya.
