Deputy President William Ruto was involved in an argument with Odinga's son, Raila Junior, after Ruto accused his dad of plotting to use his family to stop elections in Nyanza. DP Ruto on Twitter attacked Odinga saying he is responsible for the chaos that IEBC officials faced in Nyanza.

He further described NASA protests as the 'tools of a tyrant, despot and dictator'. "The riots against elections causing destruction and loss of life; violence targeting IEBC in Nyanza are tools of a tyrant, despot and dictator," DP Ruto said in a tweet. Feeling that this was not enough, Ruto alleged that opposition leader Raila Odinga was sponsoring violence through his supporters and his family to terminate the forthcoming elections. So, the democrat, Mr. Odinga will sponsor violence using his supporters and his family to ensure there is no IEBC and voting in Nyanza? Surely!!!" Ruto added Raila Junior in response informed the DP that even without his family, the energy on the ground was 'Paralyzing'.

He further stated that there would be no election on 26th October. "The energy in Kisumu and Western is paralyzing. I can tell you categorically as family even without us. There will be no elections. Bank it," Raila Junior responded to Ruto's tweet. Mr Odinga has stated that he would be willing to participate in next week's polls if the commission implements the coalitions 'Irreducible Minimums' demands.
