With several years to the next General election, political heavyweights from Nyamira have started early campaigns in a bid to succeed the incumbent John Nyagarama of ODM.

While still Nyagarama is facing a court battle filed by Walter Nyambati of Jubilee, politicians allied to NASA coalition have set their eyes on 2022 race, a battle that would see yet again familiar faces.

ODM National treasurer Timothy Bosire, a key ally of Raila Odinga is said to be warming for the seat while outspoken Borabu MP Ben Momanyi of Wiper has already made his intentions known.

"I am ready to take over in 2022 but for now let us support the current leadership," Momanyi said during Nyagarama's swearing-in.

And Bosire, a former Kitutu Masaba MP is said to be plotting for Momanyi's defeat and had pledged not to contest parliamentary seat again.

"This is my last time I am contesting for parliamentary seat. In 2022, I will tak another challenge,' he said moments to August elections.

Voting in Nyamira County is largely clan based with political parties supiriority coming third after personal competence.

Bosire comes from the larger Bogetutu clan while Momanyi hails from Bogirango clan where the incumbent comes from.
