Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga has slammed his opponent, President Uhuru Kenyatta, after he snubbed the presidential debate, on Monday.

The highly anticipated debate saw Raila, tackle questions alone, at the CUEA auditorium, Nairobi, with Kenyans expressing their disappointment after Uhuru failed to show-up.

While at Makutano, in Meru County during a campaign stopover, Raila criticisied Uhuru, saying he showed cowardice for failing to show up and account for his government's four years in office.

According to Raila, he wanted Uhuru to debate with him, as they engage each other, one on one, for Kenyans to see who between them is the best bet to lead Kenya in the next five years.

"I wanted him to come so that when I say, he says. When he says, I say. But he was afraid to show up. I even don't know why," Raila told residents in Makutano," Tuesday, accompanied by co-principal Moses Wetangula.

On the other hand, Raila's running mate, Kalonzo Musyoka was campaigning in Makueni County, accompanied by co-principal Musalia Mudavadi, where he also criticised Uhuru.

He said Uhuru did not show up for the debate, because he was afraid.

"Yesterday, you saw he declined to show up for the presidential debate because he was afraid. He was afraid of accountability questions over what his government has done," said Kalonzo.

However in a quick rejoinder, while in a Jubilee campaign tour of Nyeri County, Uhuru said he saw no need of the debate, since he engages Kenyans in political rallies.
