Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya has dismissed his main rivals Chirau Ali Mwakwere and Issah Chipera, saying they are political featherweights who cannot unseat him.

Speaking during a Jubilee rally in Ukunda on Tuesday, Mvurya said the duo who both belong to the National Super Alliance, were no threat to him even if they forged a common front against him."Mwakwere and Chipera are featherweights and even Raila and Kalonzo are aware of that. That is why they are being prevailed upon to forge a common front against me. They were recently advised to agree on whom among them should face me but they failed. They only emerged with a programme," he said. The ODM rebel governor further alleged that NASA had proposed to reward whoever would step down for the other with Sh100 million.Mwakwere is seeking the seat on a Wiper ticket while Chipera is contesting on an ODM ticket. However, there is fear that the duo could easily lose to Mvurya if they go for the seat separately. The rally was also attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto who are on a tour of the Coast region.
