Mombasa governor aspirant Suleiman Shahbal has rubbished the naming of Raila Odinga as the National Super Alliance (NASA) flag bearer with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka as his running mate.Shahbal termed the move a tale of the same monkeys in the same forest, adding that the two don't stand a chance of beating President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.In an interview with The Star, Shabhal said Kalonzo has annoyed Kambas in Mombasa by accepting to drop his presidential bid in favour of Raila.“The Kamba community in Mombasa is extremely unhappy, because he is going to put them in the cold for another five years,” said Shahbal.Shahbal, who is seeking to unseat Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho in August, said it would have been exciting to see Raila backing Kalonzo, or Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi or even Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula.“If Raila played the role of the kingmaker, maybe it could have been an exciting election, but now it is the same monkeys in the same forest,” he said.He further claimed that he had placed a Sh1 million bet with Kalonzo in 2013 that Raila will not drop his bid for the Wiper leader.“I’m calling him to collect my money. I told him there is no way that Raila would give him the certificate,” said Shahbal, as quoted by the daily.
