The women leaders, led by Kaloleni/Shaurimoyo Ward MCA Prisca Misachi and her counterpart Pamela Omino of Central Kisumu said the decision by Odinga is good for his future ambitions.

Misachi said Raila is a national leader and Kenyans are very ready and waiting to elect him in 2017, adding that he should wait for that time.

Misachi noted that Odinga should take this time to prepare massively to win the next elections.

Speaking in Kisumu on Monday after Raila turned down the opportunity to vie for the vacant seat, Misachi said they are now very happy that the Orange leader has heard their plea.

“Raila is a national leader, whoever was having this idea of Raila vying in Homabay had it all wrong, we thank him for rejecting the bid,” she said.

On Sunday, a group of Homabay County leaders led by Governor Cyprian Awiti took the request to Raila Odinga in his Opoda farm in Bondo, to request him to vie in Homabay.

However, Odinga announced in a press conference in Nairobi that he will not vie for the Homabay seat, and is instead focusing on revamping ODM and his presidential bid.
