Cord leader Raila Odinga has equated Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire to former multiparty democracy crusader, the late George Anyona, who once served as the constituency’s representative in Parliament.
The late Anyona who died in 2003, served in detention with Mr Odinga in various periods under the regime of former presidents Daniel Moi and Jomo Kenyatta.
And on Sunday during the homecoming of Mr Bosire who had been detained for four days at the Pangani police station on accusation of hate speech recently, Mr Odinga said he was ‘extremely’ happy to be united with the spirit of his deceased comrade on the name of Bosire.
“I am happy to be united by the spirit of George Anyona Moseti, a colleague of mine whom we spent many years with in detention. He was such a courageous man and I am happy that his spirit is alive,” he said.
“Bosire’s strong position on matters good governance is a replica of what Anyona stood for and I am happy to work with a new Anyona. The only gift you can give me is to re-elect him in 2017 so that we form a strong government,” he added.
On his part, Mr Bosire said he couldn’t tolerate the Jubilee government and accused it of re-introducing arbitrary detentions that were witnessed in 1980s and 1990s.
“I will always stand and protect what is good for my people. We cannot allow a government that disrespects human right to continue governing. I will work with the Mr. Odinga because I know what he stands for,” he said
