Coalition for reforms and democracy leader Raila Amolo Odinga has praised Wiper Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka for the role he played in the division of larger Sudan.
According to Raila, who is eyeing the presidential seat in the next general elections, Kalonzo will remain in the hearts of the people of South Sudan for his great contribution towards their independence.
Speaking during the black-tie dinner at the Intercontinental Hotel to celebrate Mr Musyoka’s African Dignitary Man of the Year Award, Raila said that Kalonzo has epitomized the Kenyan dream of assisting the less fortunate in the nation as well as preaching peace through his foundation.
“The South Sudanese people will be forever grateful to Kalonzo for unchaining them from Arab colonialism,” said Odinga.
He added: “Kalonzo is trying to bridge the gap and provide opportunities to those that the system has denied.” During the same event, Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula recognized the great friendship that has been in existence between him and Kalonzo Musyoka.
“I first met him in 1985 when he wrote to me to ask for a donation for his by-election campaign. I donated Sh 500, which was a lot of money then,” Mr Wetang’ula posed.
He also said that the outspoken politician expressed his gratitude for supporting him win the by-election. “When he won, he wrote to say thank you and said that he won the by-election because of the donation. We have been friends ever since,” he said.
