It was not all sobs and disappointment at the late Governor Gachagua's burial at his Nyeri home.

As per the norm, politics was at the forefront at the fallen Governor's farewell service.

Former prime minister Raila Odinga who was received warmly at the service stated that despite the alleged mistakes committed by the current government, President Kenyatta and his deputy deserve to be forgiven.

"Kibaki and I were stuck with the old constitution. The new constitution has brought about change and development," said Raila.

"Sometimes when people make mistakes, they deserve to be forgiven since this(constitution) is a new thing and they are still figuring their way around it," he continued.

According to him, the sitting president is the pioneer of the much-awaited constitution. He also affirmed that devolution is an idea who's time has come.

He claimed that the country is stuck with leaders who are still clinging to the 'old ways' of ruling. He alleged that the current government does not have the capability to move away from the previous method of central governance.

"We should forgive them for not knowing, they are still stuck in the past,"he said.
