Despite disowning Nyamira governor John Nyagarama, ODM leader Raila Odinga may have dropped his earlier intention to crack a whip.
A fortnight ago, Nyagarama dumped the ODM party a move that did not go well with the veteran leader.
"The governor called and said he has nothing to do with the party or Raila. He has since joined the other side but the party is keen to discipline him," said Ishrad Sumra.
In fact, last week, Raila had instructed the disciplinary actions against errant members who have since defied the party position.
But on Tuesday, the veteran politician was among the first people to condole with the governor who had lost one of his son.
"The party leader has promised to stand with the governor throughout this trying moment and in future engagement. He is saddened by the death of his son," said Philip Etale in reference to Raila.
For months now, Nyagarama has been listed in the black book at Orange House for defying the party's common position.
During the election crisis in the country, the second term governor had asked his disgruntled party boss to concede defeat.
