Even as Nairobi governor Mike Sonko accuses a section of powerful leaders from Mt. Kenya for allegedly holding night meetings to discuss how to short change William Ruto, ex-Kimabu boss William Kabogo has resurfaced.

At Capital Hill on Tuesday, Raila Odinga played host to Kabogo, who lost to Ferdinand Waititu during 2017 elections.

Before that, Kabogo had accused Ruto of orchestrating his defeat and even warned that he should forget about Mt. Kenya votes in 2022.

"There is no automatic support from Central Kenya he will get. The people will chose leader of their choice," he said, adding that he would also be on ballot.

During the meeting with Raila, it is however understood that the two discussed broadly about Raila's handshake with Uhuru Kenyatta and on uniting Kenyans.

On Facebook, Raila said: "William Kabogo paid me a courtesy call at my office. We discussed a range of issues regarding our journey as a nation."

Although it was widely believed that Kabogo could make it to Uhuru's cabinet, the president however gave him a wide berth.

Pundits say that due to his financial muscle, Kabogo could be the apparent heir of Uhuru when he exits office in 2022.
