Opposition leader Raila Odinga on Monday met Luo elders to brief them on why he met President Uhuru Kenyatta and retired presidents Mwai Kibaki, and Daniel Moi.
Sources said Raila took the elders step by step on why he had to reach out to the president as well as the other former presidents.
The elders said they had been convinced that Raila's handshakes were for the good of the country.
Luo Council of Elders chairman Willis Otondi said they had offered their blessings to the handshakes.
“We have been told about the details of the handshake and we endorse it to the fullest,” said Otondi.
