Opposition leader Raila Odinga has joined other leaders in mourning Nyeri governor Nderitu Gachagua.
Below is Raila's message to the people of Nyeri, and the bereaved family:
''I wish to express my sincere condolences to the family and friends of H.E Mr. Nderitu Gachagua following the death of the governor earlier today. My condolences go also to the people of the County of Nyeri whom he served with dedication until his death.
I have very fond memories of the late governor, having worked with him in and out of government in the past. I knew him as a smart politician with the humility, strength and determination to serve his people.
May God grant peace and strength to his family to enable them cope with the loss.
