The National Super Alliance (Nasa) unison is facing trouble as every party is committed to having their leader as flag bearer.
This is after Amani National Congress (ANC) has opted not to sign an agreement that Wiper leader and a NASA co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka be the coalition's flag bearer in 2022 general elections.
However, the Musalia led party maintained that it is in Nasa and there is no option of joining Jubilee. The current agreement states that ODM should not provide a presidential candidate in 2022, giving room to the coalition's partners.
In addition, the party said that Jubilee cannot afford to wrangle the coalition by using every means or by cartels.
Any party in the coalition, ANC, Wiper and Ford Kenya, are free to give a presidential candidate, who will be vetted through carrying out elections.Kakamega Senator, Cleophas Malala said that the party is preparing to have Mudavadi, their party leader, as 2022 flag bearer.
“We have an agreement on how 2022 presidency will be handled. We do not have any MoU to hand over power to Musyoka automatically. The agreement states that the party which produced presidential candidate in 2017 will not be allowed to have its candidate in 2022,” said Mr. Osotsi Godfrey, Former ANC Secretary General who served during the signing of current MoU.
“We are preparing ourselves to have Mudavadi as the flag bearer in 2022. We warn ANC cartels that we will shame them and their plans," said Malala.
Either, Malala denied claims made earlier on by Ayub Suvula, Lugari MP, that the party will pull out of Nasa. Also, he said that the party has some cartels who are betraying them, and the party ought to shame them.
“Our focus is to have Mudavadi as our candidate in 2022. We do not want boardroom appointments that will kill our party,” he said.
Besides, he added that Raila also should be ready to support Mudavadi in 2022. Conditionally, Malala said the ODM leader must support Musalia or else he will lose their support as well. Committed to having Mudavadi as the flag bearer, he said they are yet to unify the region to make sure their deal is successful.
“We have cartels in ANC who are causing losses to our party. They have made the party look disorganized and want to auction it to Jubilee. We know their schemes and links to Jubilee. We will reveal them and their plans in the next two weeks,” said Malala.
“Our focus is to have Mudavadi as our candidate in 2022. We do not want boardroom appointments that will kill our party,” he said.
“The community has supported Raila for long. In 2022 we are asking him this early to prepare to support Mudavadi. If he will insist on contesting then he should be ready to lose our support,” said Khamala Titus, Lurumbi MP.
Mr. Savula is one of those alleged to wrangle Nasa and according to Mr. Malala, he works with other Jubilee Cartels.
