Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has dismissed claims that the party has preferred candidates in various positions ahead of 2017 elections.
The Orange party is preparing for February-March 2017 primaries with December 31st being the dateline for registration.
And on Friday at Nyamira, Odinga insisted that only Electoral body had mandate to determine winners of nominations and dismissed fears of special treatment to some candidates.
“I want to assure you that nobody has been given any ODM ticket, not even me. We shall all go for nominations and the best candidate will be chosen by party members,” he said.
“No official should lie to you that we have preferred candidates. We embrace democracy and candidates who excels will be rewarded on a competitive basis,” he added.
His statement is a blow to a number of County Governors who have opened called for direct nominations.
