Opposition alliance NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga has been warned against pushing for the six-piece voting pattern during the forthcoming general elections.
On Sunday, Mr Odinga urged the electorate to reject independent candidates, and instead vote for all ODM Party candidates eyeing different elective seats.
“The NASA coalition has five parties — ODM, Ford Kenya, ANC, Chama Cha Mashinani and Wiper — whose candidates should be considered in the coming general election to boost my bid,” he said.
But speaking on Wednesday, Migori ODM Party officials urged the former Prime Minister to shun campaigns for a six-piece vote.
Led by Philip Makabong'o (Migori ODM Party Chair), the officials noted that the call could lead to voter apathy in the NASA strongholds.
"NASA principals should stand with independent candidates. Otherwise, they will lose presidential votes as most have voting blocs," he said.
"Migori, unlike other Luo Nyanza counties, is cosmopolitan. This makes it impossible to push for six-piece voting," he added.
