Shortly after the verification of his nomination papers on Sunday, Opposition alliance NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga alongside the outfit's leaders embarked on their first official campaign at Jacaranda Grounds, Nairobi.
During the rally attended by thousands of supporters, Mr Odinga took the time to spell out his agenda for the country.
He pledged to create an economic friendly environment, that could spur the country's growth and development, accusing the Jubilee adminstration of mismanaging the country's economy.
He further pledged to ensure that the cost of living is lowered, guaranteeing stabilized prices for key commodities.
“I want to assure you and every Kenyan out there that a NASA government will ensure that maize flour, sugar and fuel prices are lowered, taxes imposed to housing be lowered to ensure that rents are sustainable to each and every Kenyan,” he stated.
He also affirmed his commitment to adequately deal with graft should he win the presidency.
“Every official wants bribe from businesspersons. Even when someone wants the police help they tell him/her that their vehicle lacks fuel, but we see the police cars driving in places where local liquor is served. My government will make sure that police force do not harass Kenyans and that they serve the interests of Kenyans,” he declared.
The former Prime Minister nicknamed himself the Biblical Joshua when he was unveiled NASA presidential candidate last month.
Joshua was a character in the Bible who delivered Israelites to the promised land - Canaan.
