ODM Mathira parliamentary hopeful Chris Kiruta has announced that NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga could hold a rally in Nyeri County ahead of the next general elections.
Speaking to the press on Tuesday, the candidate noted that the fomer Prime Minister's planned meet-the-people tour of Central Kenya is still on course, despite a last minute change of Mr Odinga's itinerary for the next one week.
Kiruta further conceded that Mr Odinga's presidential candidature had gained considerable traction in the region.
“He is admired here and residents want to hear from him. I spoke to his office and I was told he will eventually visit," he stated.
“He has supporters here and in the General Election he will get a chunk of the votes notwithstanding the notion that this is a Jubilee zone,” he added.
The region is widely considered a Jubilee stronghold and voted for President Uhuru Kenyatta overwhelmingly during the 2013 polls.
