Opposition leader Raila Odinga's plans to establish People's Assembly continue to face hostility.
This is after County Assemblies Forum (CAF) opposed the move, accusing Raila of intending to use them for selfish political gains.
The Forum Chairman Johnson Osoi termed the initiative 'illegal', saying it has no space in modern-day politics.
"NASA principal Raila Odinga's call is not in any provision of the law. The country has more pressing matters and is not ready for political bickering," he said.
CAF is the coordinating body of the 47 County Assemblies in the country.
It seeks to institutionalize law-making and oversight capacity for the county assemblies in Kenya.
Raila on Thursday asked governors allied to NASA support the initiative by taking the proposal to their county assemblies for approval.
The Opposition wants to use the People's Assembly to start preparation for a fresh poll and push its reforms agenda.
Soi noted the ruling Jubilee Party has control of 29 county assemblies out of the country's 47, adding Raila's proposal would never see the light of the day.
"Unless it is established through a local arrangement by using political parties- which in this case Jubilee has the majority- members of county assemblies will dismiss such attempts," he remarked.
This comes after another lobby, Bunge la Mwananchi movement opposed the establishment of People's Assembly, saying it was a duplicate of what they have.
"Raila's plans to take over the already established platform will not be accepted. He will only allow him to join like any other Kenyan," said Henry Shitanda, the group chairman.
