Although he has kept the entire country guessing about his next course of action, ODM leader Raila Odinga may after all not be keen about 2022 Uhuru Kenyatta succession politics.
Back at his Luo Nyanza backyard, intense lobbying is ongoing as politicians position themselves to take over Luo kingpin de facto leadership from him, after over two decades at the helm.
However, not all politicians wants Raila to retire. Among those pushing for Raila's presidency include Homa Bay Women Representative Gladys Wanga and PAC chair Opiyo Wandayi.
"Raila is very young and he should contest for presidency," said Wanga over the weekend, even as some called for stoning of those contemplating to succeed him.
"There is no vacuum in ODM leadership. Those imagining as such, should be stoned," added Alego-Usonga's Samuel Atandi.
But ex-Kasipul Kabondo MP Sylvanus Osele says Siaya senator James Orengo should be the automatic heir of Odinga once he retires.
According to him, Orengo's experience is worth thus giving the community necessary directions will be easier.
"He even started this game before Raila. He has always stood with him even during tough times. He should take over," he said.
Similar sentiments are shared with Shem Ochuodho, a one time powerful MP, who conspicuously introduces former Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno and himself to the matrix.
While details about Raila's deal with Uhuru remains scanty, sources say the veteran leader could be offered an office to operate from awaiting his retire.
