Raila, former prime minister, said that he is sure NASA will form the next government, adding that Kalonzo stands a better chance of taking over from him once his term in office ends.
“Kalonzo will be on the ballot in 2022. We are sure we will form the government and Kalonzo will be the Deputy President. He stands a chance in NASA and we will support him,” said Mr Raila, as quoted by the Standard.
During the signing of the NASA Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), it was not stated the candidate who will succeed Raila once he completes his reign.
The remarks of the opposition leader come after President Uhuru Kenyatta called upon Kalonzo to cross over to Jubilee in order to form the next government.
“I urge my brother Kalonzo Musyoka not to be misled by Raila Odinga. Come and work with us. When I leave office, you can work with William Ruto and move this country,” Uhuru said.
Both Uhuru and Raila have intensified their campaigns across the country ahead of the next general election.
