NASA coalition co-principals, Musalia Mudavadi (ANC party leader) and Moses Wetangula of Ford Kenya have finally arrived in Bungoma.
Days after cracks emerged in the opposition's NASA coalition, the two co-principals, were scheduled for a joint visit to Western Kenya, raising questions as to whether NASA which comprises of four political parties (the mentioned two and ODM, Wiper) is still together, as the principals emphasised.
Differences in the coalition came about after ODM party leader Raila Odinga held a truce meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta on March 9, without consulting his three colleagues - Mudavadi, Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka.
Odinga's ODM senators later dethroned Wetangula, the Bungoma senator from his Senate Minority Leader position at the Senate Assembly replacing him with Siaya senator James Orengo, a move that Mudavadi and Kalonzo have strongly opposed.
Mudavadi and Wetangula who are seen as the Luhya community political saviours (as of now) arrived in Bungoma on Sunday for a joint rally in Bungoma town, locking out Odinga and Musyoka.
The duo first attended palm Sunday church service at Christ the Kings Catholic Church in Bungoma town, flanked by local elected leaders from the two parties, led by area Governor Wycliffe Wangamati.
On Saturday, they toured Majengo, Mbale and Chavakali in Vihiga County, where they led a scathing attack against Raila, accusing him of betraying them and the entire Luhya community.
The duo said they regretted supporting Odinga, who they had entrusted to help uplift lives of the Luhya community.
Wetangula said they had supported Odinga only for him to turn his back on them following his meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
"Mudavadi has spent 10 years supporting Raila. I equally supported Raila in 2013 and 2017," said the Bungoma Senator.
He expressed disappointment that Odinga used and dumped them, with the two calling for unity of the Luhya community.
