Odinga says the president feared being taken to task by Kenyans and answering accountability questions.

Speaking on Tuesday when he toured Meru County, Odinga said runaway corruption, unemployment and the the high cost of living were some of the issues that kept Kenyatta away from the debate.

He further accused the Jubilee government of ‘stealing’ from Kenyans, saying their admiration has only benefited a few of top government individuals.

“For every shilling they spend in the country, they steal another. In their term, Sh350 billion has been lost,” Raila said at Kangeta and Maili Tatu.

Speaking during yet another campaign tour of Meru, the leaders rallied support for Meru Governor Peter Munya’s re-election.

At Karama market in Tigania East and Kangeta in Igembe Central, the leaders endorsed Munya, asking voters to reject what they described as ‘Uhuruto cronies’ such as Jubilee governor candidate Kiraitu Murungi and Mithika Linturi (Senate).

The leaders who spoke at the rallies tore into Uhuru for skipping the debate, saying it showed disregard.

They urged Kenyans to punish the president for disrespecting them.

Speaking in Tharaka Nithi before he joined his colleagues in Meru, Musalia Mudavadi said NASA would implement the Truth Justice and Reconciliation Commission report.
