Deputy President William Ruto has accused the opposition for politicizing a mega water project set to benefit the people of Nyamira and Kisii counties.
According to Ruto, the opposition is opposing the project for selfish reasons, further reiterating that plans to build Bonyunyu Water Dam that will cost the government a mammoth Sh5.8 billions will go on despite the politics involved.
The deputy president was speaking in Nyamira County after attending mass at Ekenyoro Catholic church, where he further urged residents to register as voters.
“There are people that I don’t know how they were created, whenever they see anywhere where there is a water project, they oppose it,” said Ruto.
“They are the same ones who opposed the Itare water project which was to benefit the Nakuru people, they opposed the Murang’a water that we were to supply to Nairobi, I hear they again want to oppose the Bonyunyu project,” added Ruto.
