In addition, the alliance will have a Prime Minister and two deputies positions to “represent all regions” in a power-sharing deal.

A team crafting the alliance has proposed a bloated executive of five which would necessitate a constitutional amendment.

If it works, the contraption could follow in the footsteps of the expensive, expansive and divided grand coalition government of President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

However, a united and single-minded opposition would be a force to reckon with especially for the hastily merged Jubilee Party.

Planners want NASA unveiled by March and if it strikes a chord if could be a game-changer in the 2017 election.

The major hurdle to the proposed bloated executive is the requirement for a constitutional amendment where at least one million registered voters should have their say in the proposal.

According to the Star, one of these deputy presidents is Kanu leader Gideon Moi.

Moi’s aide Joseph Kimkum said although the proposal has not been formally made, the Baringo senator was open to ideas.

"When it is presented to us formally, we will respond. Our party leader has made it clear he is willing to engage with progressive forces in a structured manner," Kimkum was quoted by the publication.

The team planning the alliance says having Moi as the DP would make him equivalent in status to Deputy President William Ruto.

In the proposal, after the Rift Valley region, the second DP post is proposed to represent Eastern region where Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka comes from.

All opposition leaders have expressed interest in the presidency.

With the creation of a bloated executive, all have to be accommodated creating room for ODM leader Raila Odinga or ANC’s Musalia Mudavadi to be president.

According to the team, the proposed deputy prime minister positions would go to the Coast and Kisii.

Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang'ula would be Speaker of the National Assembly under the plan while the Senate speaker would come from the Rift Valley.

Coalition partners will get at least two Cabinet, three Principal Secretaries and four parastatal CEO positions.
