Kwale Women Representative hopeful Zuleikha Hassan has urged Coast residents to endorse NASA principal Raila Odinga’s presidential bid in the August 8 polls.
Addressing supporters in Kwale town on Tuesday, the ODM aspirant said “a Raila government is what Coast residents need for equal development.”Zuleikha claimed the region has been sidelined by the previous and current regimes over the years adding that time has come for residents to speak out.She said poverty and marginalization remains high in the Coast region, due to being sidelined.“We have suffered for many years and now we have a chance of voting for a leader who will restore out dignity by fighting for our rights and welfare,” said Zuleikha, as quoted by the Nation. She said if elected, NASA will address the main issues facing residents such as historical social, political and economic injustices that have been allegedly perpetuated against them by previous regimes.Zuleikha urged locals to reject the Jubilee government, arguing that it has not benefited Coast residents in any way.She said President Uhuru Kenyatta’s constant trips to the region will not sway the region to vote in their favour.Meanwhile, Zuleikha has urged residents to shun politicians preaching disunity as the country heads to the polls, adding that residents must remain peaceful and maintain law and order. She is seeking to unseat Zainab Chidzuga who is vying on a Jubilee party ticket.
