The NASA government will construct a strong bridge across the Likoni channel once elected to power, coalition flag bearer Raila Odinga has said.
Speaking in Mombasa on Friday accused the Jubilee administration of wasting resources by buying low value ferries to ply the channel.
“I have heard that Uhuru is coming to launch a ferry here. That ferry is rubbish,” Raila said.
According to Raila, the only solution in addressing the congestion at Likoni is to construct a bridge.
He argued that the government should be commissioning construction of a bridge across the channel and not buying new ferries.
The NASA leader promised that his government will build across the channel a bridge measuring 50 metres high to allow enough space for big ships to pass.
“That work will start next year,” said Raila.
“The bridge will start at the Old Kilindini port going all the way to Shika Adabu,” said Raila.
