Raila said he would only quit the race and shelve his ambition if the candidate he supports can unseat the Jubilee government.

“If my candidature proves to be an impediment in our determined resolve to rescue the country from the grips of Jubilee, and if supporting another person would help, I would be more than willing to step down for them,” Odinga said.

The former Prime Minister also revealed that Cord coalition is in the working processing of determining among the 3 co-principal who has the right balance and strength to give Jubilee a run for their money.

“Must it be me? No! I am prepared to support others if they have better prospects of beating Jubilee hands down. The whole thing is that we must not allow Jubilee to get victory when the country is in such a mess,” Odinga was quoted by the Standard.

Raila further revealed that Cord is open to work with other like-minded political outfits.

“We are still open to other movements and we know others will be joining us in due course. I know I can win but if we get someone else who is better placed to do so and we agree on him, I will give my all to them,” assured Mr Odinga.

In the recent past, the Cord coalition has been rocked by uncertainities over who should be their ideal flag bearer in the 2017 elections.
