Political analyst Odoyo Owino has rubbished sentiments linking Raila Odinga's forthcoming London trip to being suspicious considering the country is set to go for a presidential election in October.
According to Owino, Raila has the right to leave the country at any given time even if it is on the election date itself. In his view, Raila has only one vote which cannot be used to determine the outcome of the whole presidential election.
The analyst further pointed out that the former President Mwai Kibaki moved out of the country before the 2002 general elections but still won in a free, fair and credible election.
"There is nothing suspicious in Raila Odinga leaving the country at the moment. In fact, he can even leave the country on the election date and still have people vote for him. Kibaki did it in 2002 and there was nothing suspicious about it," reiterated Owino.
The analyst believes the only suspicious activities is the amending of the election laws and the death of Chris Msando before the conduction of elections.
"The only thing suspect is the death of Msando before the August polls and the forthcoming October presidential election," added Owino.
Owino made the remarks on Monday during a political discussion on Citizen TV.
