Muthama said that he has been with the former vice president through hard times, adding that it will be foolish of him to abandon him at this moment.

“In 1983, Mulu Mutisya told me to support Kalonzo when I didn’t even know who he was. He won. We remained in Kanu until we moved to LDP, later to ODM-K (now-Wiper) and NASA. How foolish could I be to abandon him today?” Muthama said, as quoted by Star.

The senator said that if he leaves Wiper, Kalonzo will automatically leave the political outfit.

“If my first leg stepped out of Wiper, Kalonzo’s would be the second and if his [Kalonzo’s] one leg stepped out of Wiper, Muthama’s would be second,” he added.

The Senator and former vice president’s rivalry caused a storm in the alliance. Muthama had accused Kalonzo of imposing leaders on the people of Machakos and other counties where Wiper is dominant.

He cited the case of former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti and Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua. The senator was not happy when Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala lost during nominations. Kiala opted to contest as an Independent candidate.)
