NASA leader Raila Odinga has rejected plans by opposition radicals to swear him in as the people's president on Tuesday.

There have been pronouncements that Raila will be sworn in, parallel to president-elect Uhuru Kenyatta's swearing in on Tuesday, November 28.

Raila turned down the proposal during a closed door meeting on Saturday at Maanzoni lodge.

Sources said Raila feared the move would be 'too confrontational'.

The script to swear him in was reportedly being drafted by radicals James Orengo, John Muthama and Miguna Miguna.

Speaking during the closed door meeting, Raila is said to have called for caution talking about his 'international image and respect to the rule of the law'.

“Some people in the coalition would have really wanted to go on with it (parallel swearing-in). But some people have called for caution instead, with Baba (Raila) himself being the biggest voice, citing his national stature, international image and his respect for the law,” a source at the meeting told Sunday nation.

Other impeccable sources said two sitting judges, who leans towards the Opposition, had already agreed to the deal by the NASA radicals.

During the meeting, the NASA leader is said to have insisted the use of people's assembly, civil disobedience and boycotts.
