Speaking when he led the country in celebrating 55years of Kenya's internal self rule at Kinoru Stadium on Friday, Uhuru opposed calls to amend the constitution saying it is not a solution to Kenya's problems

However, while speaking in Mombasa hours later when he was hosted for Iftar by Governor Hassan Joho, the ODM leader insisted that the referendum is unstoppable adding that they will implement the recommendations of the the recently-gazettted reconciliation team.

"You saw the team was gazetted and has started working. It is the committee which will bring forward recommendations which we will implement. If the committee says we need to amend the constitution, we will do so and no one will stop us," Raila said.

Since his March 9 political truce with Uhuru, Raila's ODM party has amplified its call for a referendum, something that has been opposed by the Jubilee leadership led by the President and his deputy William Ruto.
