Cord leader Raila Odinga has responded on the open-ended debate sparked by co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka who cautioned the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) that he would make a major move.
In a statement sent to newsrooms after the Wiper party endorsed Kalonzo as its presidential candidate, Odinga expressed support for joint fielding of candidates in the coalition.
Odinga stated that he was content with the main parties under Cord fielding their own candidates as advanced by Kalonzo.
According to the opposition chief, the individual candidates would participate in a joint nomination exercise to identify the strongest challenger to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“Cord leader Raila Odinga is in agreement with the proposal by co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka’s for joint nominations between the parties forming Cord and the fielding of candidates on Cord flag,” read the statement.
On Monday, Musyoka seemingly faulted ODM for being vocal in popularising its candidate for the presidential position and in turn warned that Wiper would make a major move.
“When I make a move which I intend to, please remember others have already beaten that trail,” Kalonzo stated while addressing the media at his Karen home
Barely two weeks ago, Mr Odinga was endorsed by ODM with the party kicking off countrywide a move that created discomfort within the coalition with a section expressing fears that it would cause division.
