Opposition leader Raila Odinga on Friday revealed that he advised President Uhuru Kenyatta but he has ignored.
According to Odinga, he adviced President Kenyatta on the best way to tame rampant corruption in the government.
The Cord leader who was speaking in the wake of the Sh5 billion health ministry scandal said that he urged the Head of State to emulate regional leaders in fighting corruption.
Odinga said that he called on Uhuru to emulate his Tanzanian counterpart John Magufuli and send people to jail no matter who they are in the society.
He said that President Magufuli, Rwanda's Paul Kagame and Nigeria's Mohammed Buhari had taken the fight against corruption to another level by dismissing their close allies.
“I gave the President free advice last week; follow the route of President Magufuli. People are in jail in Tanzania. President Kagame took his own brother to jail…he goes to visit him on weekends," he said.
"That’s when you will be able to reign in this animal called corruption. But if other people are untouchable, then the so-called war on corruption is all rubbish."
Odinga added that he gave the advice as a brother and a friend but not as a political rival.
During the press conference, Odinga further rubbished investigations into the alleged loss of Sh5 billion at the Health terming it as a cover-up.
“If anything is going to come out of those investigations, it is a cover-up. All they are looking for is evidence so they can hide it," he said.
