ODM leader Raila Odinga now says Deputy President William Ruto is desperate to have ANC and Ford Kenya parties merging for his 2022 bid.
This comes after Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula insisted that Raila has suddenly felt the heat after abandoning NASA.
"I did warn him that the divorce will be messy and noisy. The Luhya nation no longer attends his rallies," he said in a statement.
For weeks now, Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi have been crafting a working formula that will see the two parties merging.
But through Edwin Sifuna, Godgrey Osotsi and Cleophas Malala, Raila said the plan will backfire in due time.
"It is Ruto who is funding the merger of ANC and Ford Kenya. The move will backfire and that is a fact. We are aware of his plans.
"He now knows that Luhya community can propel him to State House. However, he should know that Wetangula is only popular when he supports Raila," Sifuna said.
In the recent past, Ruto has been attending several rallies in the vote rich Western region and has been working closely with Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka.
