Orange Democratic party (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has revealed that Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho is likely to get a direct nomination to defend his seat ahead of the August polls.
Speaking when he presiding over ODM's rally at Tononoka Grounds in Mombasa on Sunday, the former Prime Minister said so far, Joho is the only person who has announced his bid for the post on an ODM ticket.
''No one has as of now applied for the ODM ticket to vie for the Mombasa Governor seat apart from Joho. For this reason he is likely to get a direct nomination as he has no competition,'' said Raila.
Raila further praised Joho saying he is among the most lively representatives of the party and the entire opposition block in the coastal region.
He added that Joho has proved that he is a die hard supporter of the party and the party will repay him.
''Hassan Joho is a real warrior who has stood with us all through,we will stand with him as well,'' said Raila.
Joho is however likely to face stiff competition from businessman Suleiman Shahbal who will vie for the post on the Jubilee Party ticket.
