Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has been at the forefront in backing ODM party leader Raila Odinga’s ideologies.

Joho has pointed out corruption in the national government and can be credited for making Mombasa an ODM stronghold. 

Recently, he shut Jubilee saying he is too expensive to be swayed by their goodies. 

The outspoken county boss turned the attention to Mombasa when he hosted celebrations for the ODM@10 anniversary. 

His loyalty to ODM has never been questionable, and a reward has come at the right moment. 

Joho will now lead Raila’s campaign team. According to the Star, this group comprises youthful politicians who are Raila’s fanatics.  Age has been considered so that youthful votes are not .

The newspaper stated  that the former prime minister has allowed Joho and his team to crown him the presidency. 

This is a relief to the veteran politician who has been lacking a dedicated campaigner. It is a move that is aimed at making sure that Cord regions remain intact and other regions are traversed. 

The coastal point man said the new strategy will leave Jubilee sweating. Joho said, "Things will not be the same. We have been tried and tested in Malindi and other areas where we have handed Jubilee huge losses in by-elections. Now we have matured. We know what to do and we will match them in every area." 

The issue of free and fair elections will also be addressed. 

He stated that the party's elections board will have to carry out transparent nominations to avoid potential loss of votes.

 The Governor said, "Poor nominations cost us votes in the last election. We will not repeat that." 

Other team members are Mombasa woman representative Mishi Mboko, Suna East’s Junet Mohamed, Kilifi’s Aisha Jumwa, ODM chairman John Mbadi, Governor Josephat Nanok of Turkana, Mbita MP Millie Odhiambo and youthful MP Elijah Memusi Kanchori from Kajiado Central.
