With less than 10 months to the 2017 general election, opposition chief Raila Odinga has called for fresh registration of voters by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
According to Mr Odinga a new register needs to be constituted to capture biometric data of voters such as fingerprints and eye data to avoid any cases of ghost voters.
“We need a fresh register to address incidences of rigging,” he told Mediamax.
Raila who was Speaking in Migori county on Tuesday said there was need to sanitize the existing voter register in order to avoid electoral discrepancies.
Raila at the same time urged the Kuria community to come out in large numbers and vote for him in the next years' general election.
Earlier this year, Raila led fierce anti-IEBC countrywide demos that saw the Commission disbanded to create room for a new one.
Thr search for a new commission has commenced following the formation of a joint selection panel that was tasked to recruit new commissioners.
