Opposition leader Raila Odinga has urged the ODM supporters to ensure they vote for its aspirants in all seats that will be at stake in the 2017 elections to increase their representation both in the county assemblies and Parliament.
Raila's remarks could trigger another heated debate within the opposition which comprises other affiliate parties among them Ford Kenya and Wiper Democratic Movement.
Addressing a mammoth crowd at Nyacheki in Kisii on Monday, the former prime minister said the party needs enough ‘soldiers’ in order to pass key legislations since they were sure of presidential victory.
“Kenyans are tired with the Jubilee regime because it has been running a bandit economy. Our people cannot withstand another five years of harsh economic climate and as ODM, we are sure of winning,” he said.
Raila added: “however, I also need more soldiers in the assemblies and Parliament so that we can be able to pass key legislations. The nominations which will be carried out this March will be free and fair. Kindly vote one of our own at all levels.”
He urged youths to register as voters in large numbers and challenged those who were eligible to apply for national Identification Cards to do so.
