A dejected Raila Odinga flew out of the country on Thursday evening to the neighbouring Tanzania for Ester holidays, an aide at Capital Hill has revealed.
In an interesting twist of events, the veteran politician has been thrown to defense over lawyer Miguna Miguna's woes, with die-hard supporters accusing him of doing 'nothing' to rescue him.
But according to he source, who declined to be named, Raila is embarrassed with Miguna's situation, a reason that explains his continued silence.
"Yes, I can confirm he flew out for Ester holiday and there is nothing much about it. He will be back soon," he said.
The source further said: "He hasn't commented on the matter but he is a bit embarrassed. He wanted Miguna to comply with immigration requirements by depositing his passport."
Even as Miguna continues to languish in Dubai International Airport, details have emerged how he refused to handover his passport to Raila on Monday for stamping as required by the law.
Without mentioning Raila directly, the controversial lawyer, who swore Raila as people's president claimed the ODM leader has never called him since his deportation.
"I have neither seen or received call from any ODM leader since my forceful eviction by authorities," he said, in reference to Raila.
Tanzanian president John Magufuli is a close ally of Raila but the two have not met since Raila reconciled with his political nemesis, Uhuru Kenyatta, who is coincidentally out of Kenya.
