Former Matuga MP Chirau Ali Mwakwere who is eying the Kwale governor seat has said NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga will trounce President Uhuru Kenyatta in the August 8 elections.
Mwakwere who was a key member of URP that teamed up to win the 2013 elections played a pivotal role in President Uhuru Kenyatta's Presidential win four years ago. However, the President and his deputy William Ruto have broken ranks with Mwakwere who has since joined the opposition team.Speaking during one of his campaign rallies in Kwale, the former Cabinet Minister said Raila is the man to beat in this year's presidential race.Mwakwere who until recently was Kenya's Ambassador to Tanzania, said he has always been in the winning team and that the 2017 polls will not be any different.Mwakwere has been conspicuously present in nearly all NASA events including the launch of the coalition's manifesto on Tuesday.Since returning into the political limelight after four years in the wilderness, Mwakwere who was Matuga MP for two terms has proved to be a thorn in President Uhuru's flesh with the two throwing jabs at each other.
