Opposition chief Raila Odinga has been accused of setting a bad example as the ODM party leader.
Raila has been accused of praising his party members who were charged with hate speech in a Nairobi court after spending four days in police custody two weeks ago.
And now political analyst Samuel Salat says Raila should have condemned the acts by his party members like President Uhuru Kenyatta did instead of leading them back into their constituencies in convoys and holding homecoming rallies.
He said the Oposition chief in so doing, is glorifying hate speech in the country, yet he is expected to condemn the vice.
“We have seen what Raila has been doing, championing alleged hate mongers in public and terming them heroes. That is very wrong and should be condemned,” he said.
The ODM has been to homecoming rallies for Kilifi County woman rep Aisha Jumwa, Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire and Busia woman rep Florence Mutua, all who are facing hate speech charges.
Other legislators in the Cord coalition facing similar charges are Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama and Suna East MP Junet Mohammed.
He said the MPs were championing people's rights.
“The party leader should instead focus in disciplining its members and condemning them for such utterances that may stir violence in the country,” said the analyst.
