Raila Odinga's allegations that KDF is being trained to tilt the August 8 election outcome are not only unfortunate but shocking particularly to anyone who knows the workings of the KDF.
Political analyst Captain (rtd) Collins Wanderi says the allegations are unfortunate and amounting to hate crime.
"It's unfortunate Raila says there are KDF in Kakamega to rig elections because by that you put our men in uniform in danger of hate crime. It is the constitutional mandate of the KDF to protect our frontier borders. We know KDF are currently assisting civilian security in Lamu in Operation Linda Boni not what Raila is saying. We are talking about an institution which has historically tried to maintain its integrity," Wanderi said on Wednesday during NTV's breakfast show.
He noted that KDF is not staffed by people who don't know what they are doing as they are aware where they are limited by law.
Wanderi also castigated Raila for mentioning specific officers whom he alleged are assisting the KDF and other security organs prepare for rigging in Jubilee leadership come August 8.
"Why mention specific officers? What are you driving at? It is subject to interpretation. These people you are specifically singling out, is it on the basis of their ethnicity or the office they hold?" posed Wanderi.
Security analyst Captain Simiyu Werunga echoed Wanderi saying that Raila needs to substantiate his allegations.
"We know KDF is so professional they won't do what Raila is alleging. He needs to substantiate what he's saying. He should share what he knows with us or share what he knows with who he wants," said Simiyu.
